Fridhem is a course centre and hostel in the heart of the beautiful village of Stjärnsund in southern Dalarna, Sweden.
We offer a wide range of courses as well as a popular hostel. In addition we organise lectures, cultural cafes and art exhibitions in our own Galleri. We are also a venue for local events such as dance, yoga and qi gong.
During 2023 Fridhem's Vegetarian Eco-restaurant will be open daily during the period 1 July - 3 August 3.
In our grounds we have a unique Diversity and Forest Garden which is cared for by Permakultur Stjärnsund. Guided tours start on June 5.
Fridhem Course Centre is located in the beautiful and lively community of Stjärnsund in southern Dalarna, two and a half hours' drive from Stockholm. The Course Centre has a wide range of activities and a varied and rich range of courses with a focus on Personal Development and ecological gardening systems.
The main course centre is a lovely old traditional Swedish wooden building from the 1890s. On the upper floor it has two large group rooms and a total of 28 beds in 10 bedrooms.
On the ground floor there is a fully equipped restaurant kitchen and a cozy dining room with an open fireplace. The walls of the dining room are decorated with paintings from local artists and change monthly with new exhibitions.
There are several lakes a five minutes walk away and behind the house we have a two hectare Forest Garden. There are numerous walking trails close by.
We've just completed a major renovation with a new guest kitchen, showers and toilets. Our guest rooms have being redesigned, painted and decorated as well.
Welcome to homely accommodation at Fridhem, a beautiful old red-painted traditional wooden house from the 1890s.
We have 6 guest rooms (2-4 beds) upstairs and 1 guest room on the ground floor as well as a guest kitchen. All rooms have shared shower and toilet.
Fridhem offers great opportunities for recreation in the beautiful surroundings with lakes, walking paths and nature reserves.
Fridhem is in the midst of an ongoing transformation. We are re-organizing and renovating and are happy that we have just been able to inaugurate our new hostel kitchen, the Ekokoket.
