Fridhem Course Centre and Hostel are owned and run by Stiftelsen Stjärnsund, which was established in 1984 with the aim of creating a "Nordic Center in the spirit of Findhorn". The Findhorn Foundation in northern Scotland is a centre for holistic thinking and spiritual and personal development.
We are currently a group of about 15-20 people of different ages who live and work together at and around Fridhem.
Fridhem is our course centre, an old traditional wooden building from the 1890s. The course activities are mainly focused on personal development and permaculture.
At Fridhem we have a vegetarian restaurant kitchen, a guest kitchen called the Ekoköket that was recently renovated using only recycled materials, a treatment room and a large garden with a Forest Garden managed by Permakultur Stjärnsund.
We also arrange lectures, culture cafes and art exhibitions in our own gallery.
Vi har regelbundna aktiviteter som dans, yoga, och qi gong.
The business is partially run on a voluntary basis with a board that has overall responsibility.
Some of us have dedicated ourselves to being on the board, some others to taking care of courses and hostels and some others to keep the garden flourishing. Several develop their private businesses such as therapists, offering nature walks and cooking.
